Education:

Princeton WV High School 1960
Virginia Tech BSEE 1964
Florida Atlantic University MBA (one year) 1969
Arizona State University MSEE 1970

Career:

My first job after college was with Motorola in Phoenix, AZ, and I worked for Motorola for over 25 years, having left and returned again. My entire work experience has been in the semiconductor industry.  I was a corporate vice president officer for Motorola between 1988 and 2002, when I retired.

I was responsible, at various times, for Motorola Semiconductors' worldwide businesses in Memory ICs, Digital Signal Processors, and Imaging Devices.  My final area of responsibility was as head of strategy for the wireless and broadband semiconductor systems area, with responsibility for chipsets and application software for the cell phone market.

Other:

Reading:  I read voraciously (TV is rare for me)

Writing:  I am writing a novel now, set in West Virginia in the nineteen fifties.  Hopefully the book will be ready to submit to a publisher by the end of 2008.

Running: I'm not fast, but enjoy racing and have run two marathons and
numerous shorter events.

Porsche 356 cars

Porsche 356: I have owned four of these little treasures.  The current
"baby car" is a 1959 356A Cabriolet in great shape.  I do all the routine
maintenance myself, and enjoy "spirited" driving.

Virginia Tech football: Long time season holder.  Started back before the
Hokies got really good!

CW Clubs: FOC (#1688) and FISTS (#5435)

DXing:  I consider myself a contester first, ragchewer second, and DXer
third.  However I have completed the 5BWAZ with the last one being Zone 23
JT1CO on 75 meters SSB.
